Welcome 5th and 6th graders to Language Arts! Just as famous poet, Shell Silverstein writes in his poem this year "Anything can be!" This will be our motto in Language Arts! Come with an open and willing spirit ready to learn skills that you will use throughout your lifetime. If you haven't felt like a writer yet, you will this year! We will write poems, short stories, book letters, narratives, scripts and more.

Everyone is a reader, whether you think you like to read or not! Reading is a way to navigate our world. Think of all the reading you do each and every day, just to understand directions, or figure out what you want for lunch. Those of us who read for enjoyment have been blessed in finding their true genre love! If you haven't found your favorite book/ genre yet - that's your mission this year! We'll read many different genres: realistic fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, poetry, and mystery.
